What is the Conficker Worm?
The Conficker Virus (aka downadup, downup and kido) is a widespread virus which hit computers towards the end of 2008 and targets Windows users. The worm saves a DLL with a randomly generated file name. It then launches a brute force attack on the computer's account passwords and then spreads like wild fire. Security experts in the field are saying it's the worst computer virus in the last 5 years and over 15,000,000 computers are infected. The virus is set to "unleash" on April 1st, 2009. Exactly what "unleash" means is unknown at this time. Experts are urging users to install an AntiVirus application that can prevent this lethal worm. Read on for more details on the applications that can deal with this infection.
